Sonora Bean Puree

from Diana Kennedy’s The Essential Cuisines of Mexico, p. 156. A 99-cent bag of pintos that had been sitting in my pantry for about a year, half an onion, a little milk, and it’s totally heartwarming.

Everything else except the chicken and the lettuce is from the same cookbook. Fresh tortillas, p. 50, Mexican Rice, p. 160, Fresh Mexican salsa, p. 235. It was all so good!
